    Brian Phillips, much-loved landlord of the Masons Arms and lifelong resident of Devauden, passed away on 20th January 2010. Brian's contribution to Devauden is incomparable and he is greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

    Brian Phillips, landlord of The Masons Arms in Devauden, recently celebrated his 60th birthday. Naturally, he choose the Masons as the venue and the pub was packed with regulars, friends and family who came along to join him on this great occasion.

  • Masons Arms Charity Auction Raises £2000

    Congratulations to everyone involved in the charity auction at The Masons Arms on 2nd January.  Over £2000 pounds was raised for Children with Leukaemia.  This brings the total raised in the appeal to nearly £3000.

    The current owner of the Masons Arms has abandoned his plans for re-opening it as a pub and has applied to change the use of the building to a house. Many local residents and pub regulars have expressed their opposition to the planning application by submitting comments on Monmouthshire County Council’s website.

  • The Masons Arms Reprieved

    The current owner of the Masons Arms withdrew his application to change the use of the building to a house on 16 April 2020. He will assess his options and take advice from agents on marketing the property as a
    public house. Many local residents and pub regulars had expressed their opposition to the planning application by submitting comments on Monmouthshire County Council’s website.

  • The Masons Beer - Results

    Thanks to everyone who took part in the Mason Arms Beer Preferences Survey. Over 80 people completed the questionnaire and made suggestions for the range of drinks that could be available when the pub reopens. The results and comments will be passed on to the new owners and, although it won’t be possible to include everyone’s favourites, the list will help them to choose the final selection.

    A big thank you to local rock band Ugly Frog who raised the roof at the Masons on 19th December (you may have noticed that repairs already being carried out).

  • What's Next For The Masons Arms?

    The Masons Arms pub was very much at the heart of our community and its closure in October 2011 left a gap that has never been filled.  Now, at last, there is, perhaps, some hope that it will reopen in the near future.

Restaurateur Jonathan Davies, who was at the Michelin star rated Crown at Whitebrook before emigrating to the world cup host nation, will taking on the braai (BBQ) duties for what promises to be a thrilling afternoon.
