In late 2023 Chepstow Walkers Are Welcome agreed to work with Monmouthshire County Council and look after a section of the county with regards to the public rights of way network.

The group will now survey paths and bridleways in a specified area, will identify issues that will then be reported to Monmouthshire CC. A minimum of 12 work parties will then be undertaken by the volunteers. The volunteers have undertaken training with Monmouthshire CC and some of the group have had enhanced training so that they can use brushcutting equipment.

The area that Chepstow Walkers Are Welcome is looking after borders Devauden and the group aims to look after land from the coast line between the Wye and Portskewett and with a westerly boundary of the unclassified road from Crick to Shirenewton and then the B4235 to Gaerllwyd. The easterly boundary follows the A466 north to St Arvans and then the Devauden Rd to Devauden. The northerly boundary runs just south of Devauden to Gaerllwyd.

If any residents of Devauden are interested in volunteering with a new group that is determined to improve the public right of way network in this area then they should contact Chepstow Walkers Are Welcome.
