Debbie and Tim Walker are aiming to raise £100,000 for Cancer Research Wales to fund a research post in memory of their son Tom. Their latest endeavour is a downloadable quiz which is being launched as part of The 2.6 Challenge. The quiz is ideal for whiling away the hours during lockdown so please join in and make a donation.
The Walker Family’s 2 x 26 Questions Challenge
The London Marathon was due to take place on Sunday 26th April. However, due to COVID-19, it has been cancelled and the thousands of runners who would normally take part raising millions of pounds for charity are unable to do so. Charities, particularly the smaller ones are being very hard hit.
Cancer Research Wales is a small charity that funds incredible, lifesaving research in Wales. It is a charity very close to our hearts. In March 2018, our 13-year-old son Tom took part in one of their charity events. Just ten weeks later, Tom was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. He died the next day after failing to recover from the operation he needed to start his treatment. Since then, we have been working with Cancer Research Wales, fundraising with friends, family and our local community to support research into acute myeloid leukaemia through the creation of the Tom Walker PhD Scholarship.
At this strange and difficult time, we want to help Cancer Research Wales, so that when COVID-19 has gone, they can get back to funding further life changing research. In order to do our bit, we have developed this two-part picture and puzzle quiz. Anyone can download it and take part. All entries with over 40 marks (out of a possible 52) will be entered into a draw and the winner selected at random. The winner will receive a £26 voucher, which we will donate. The voucher will be by negotiation with the winner, but should ideally be supporting a local business.
Hint: Once you have all the answers to the picture clues, you should have an answer for every letter of the alphabet!
