The Walker family are asking people to help raise funds in aid of Cancer Research Wales by taking part in the Walk for Tom on the weekend of Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 March.
Participants are invited to go on a walk, perhaps as they would do normally, or to challenge themselves to walk a bit further or to somewhere they haven’t been before. Tom’s family will be doing a walk around their local wood, but rather than doing it in the daytime, they will be doing it in the dark.
It is £10 per person to register and you will receive a limited edition beanie hat. You can register at Walk for Tom - in aid of Cancer Research Wales. Alternatively, for those living locally to Devauden, packs are available from Devauden Village Shop and Newchurch Farm shop.
You are welcome to seek sponsorship for your walk and we encourage you to raise as much as you can; this however is not compulsory. Please note that all monies raised from the Walk for Tom event will be donated to Cancer Research Wales and restricted to the Tom Walker Fund.
The first award from the Tom Walker Fund was recently made to Cardiff University for research into a potential treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia and a research scientist, Theo Morin, started work on the project in January 2021. You can read an update about Theo and his PhD here.
Please join in the Walker family's fundraising and continue to build a lasting legacy in Tom's memory.
